The final contestant, Bev Beesley, had successfully ordered four foods by their named locations. She passed the £16,000 question and set her safety net at £32,000, but needed to answer correctly to secure the prize.
The Decisive Question
She was asked: "Which of these musical instruments is played using a keyboard?" The options were Euphonium, Melodica, Sitar, and Theremin. Bev eliminated the euphonium as a brass instrument and the sitar as a stringed instrument, leaving melodica and theremin.
"Really vaguely, at the back of my mind, theremin, I might've heard of," she said. Clarkson reminded her that a wrong answer would cost £15,000, while a correct one would win £16,000, adding: "But then you've got a free chance at 64 and you're into mega money."
Bev felt she wasn't taking too much of a risk and locked in theremin as her final answer. Clarkson then revealed she had lost £15,000, saying "No, Bev," as he put his head in his hands.
