Claire Sweeney has returned to work following the death of her former partner, boxing legend Ricky Hatton. The actress was seen arriving at a studio in Manchester on Friday to film an episode of ITV's Celebrity Lingo, just days after Hatton was found dead at his home in Hyde, Greater Manchester, at the age of 46.
Wearing a navy blue tracksuit, trainers and carrying a gold Gucci bag, Sweeney appeared composed as she arrived for filming. She had previously broken her silence on social media, sharing a tribute to Hatton alongside a video montage set to Elvis Presley's 'If I Can Dream'.
In her post, Sweeney wrote: 'I’ve needed a few days to process the devastating news about my dear friend Ricky. My thoughts are with his family especially his children Campbell, Millie Fearne and Lyla, his granddaughter. To them, Speaky and to all his friends who loved him so deeply and for so many years I send you my deepest sympathy. Ricky, you were the people’s champ. We adored and cherished you. Love you always.'
Hatton's family released a statement describing him as being 'in a good place' before his death, with plans to travel to Dubai to promote a comeback fight. They added that the 'outpouring of grief and love from the nation and worldwide shows how much Richard was loved'. Police have said they are not treating the death as suspicious.
Sweeney and Hatton had known each other for years before becoming a couple while appearing on Dancing on Ice in January 2024. They dated for eight months and remained friends after their split.
