Christine McGuinness has opened up about her relationship with ex-husband Paddy McGuinness, saying she is 'a couple of steps away' from being her 'new self' and no longer defined as 'Paddy's wife'. The 37-year-old model and podcaster made the comments on E4's Celebs Go Dating, where she revealed she is not only leaving her ex-husband behind but also men altogether, as she focuses on dating women.
Married to the Take Me Out host for 11 years after meeting at 19, Christine announced their split in July 2022. On the show, she said she has only dated women in the three years since becoming single and feels more comfortable exploring that side of her sexuality. 'I was never heterosexual,' she said. 'I’ve never labelled myself anything other than Christine, to be honest.'
During a dating masterclass, Christine addressed rumours of Paddy's infidelity, stating: 'Anyone can make mistakes, but I think the trust was broken. I’ll always love him as the father of my children, I think he’ll be the only man I’ll ever love.' She acknowledged that being a well-known couple meant their private matters became public knowledge.
Reflecting on the end of their marriage, Christine said: 'In some ways, I still carry that feeling of it’s my fault because I ended it. We had an amazing 15 years... The last couple of years, I think things weren’t quite the same. I think once the respect isn’t quite there any more, it’s time to leave.' She described the decision as the hardest she has ever made.
Since the split, Christine has been romantically linked to singer Chelcee Grimes and model, rapper and DJ Roxxxan. She now appears to be embracing a new chapter in her life, publicly exploring her attraction to women and moving forward as an individual.
