Christine McGuinness has admitted it took three years to understand why the public is interested in her, following her separation from comedian Paddy McGuinness. The 37-year-old, who was long known as Paddy's wife, has since carved out her own identity through TV appearances and autism advocacy.
Speaking about her journey, Christine revealed that a conversation with relationship expert Paul C Brunson helped her accept the spotlight. 'He basically said, 'Instead of trying to figure out why, why don't you just think that there must be something unique about you, to have all that attention on you?'' she recalled. The mother-of-three, diagnosed with autism and ADHD in 2021, had previously struggled with the attention, even turning down jobs and opportunities.
Christine continues to live with Paddy, 51, in what she describes as 'co-parents who co-habit' for the sake of their three autistic children: twins Leo and Penelope, 12, and eight-year-old Felicity. Their divorce was finalised in October 2024, but she says they live together 'quite happily'. Earlier this year, she pulled out of Celebs Go Dating, citing that it was 'too soon' for the attention it would bring.
Now a campaigner for neurodiversity, Christine is backing a Barratt Redrow initiative to build 100 accessible play areas annually. 'As a mum of three autistic children I know the struggle of trying to find places that are suitable for them,' she said, emphasising the need for safe and inclusive spaces.
