Christine McGuinness Opens Up About Lavish Ibiza Dates and Personal Dating Journey
Model Christine McGuinness has candidly shared details of her extravagant approach to dating, revealing she once took three different women to Ibiza for romantic getaways. The 38-year-old, who finalized her divorce from TV presenter Paddy McGuinness in 2022 after 11 years of marriage, discussed these luxurious excursions during the latest episode of her BBC podcast Situationships with Sophie and Christine.
Ibiza: The Ultimate Dating Destination
Christine explained her reasoning behind choosing the picturesque Mediterranean island as her preferred dating location. 'I took three different women to Ibiza for dates, different women, and if it doesn't work out I still had a holiday to Ibiza,' she revealed. The model particularly praised the stunning Es Vedrà, an uninhabited limestone islet off Ibiza's southwest coast known for its dramatic 400-meter height and spectacular sunset views.
'We went to Es Vedra and it is the most beautiful view and energy and it is calm and you can't possibly have a bad time. I don't think that will be beaten,' Christine elaborated. Her Ibiza dating history includes being spotted with footballer Chelcee Grimes in 2023 and musician ROXXXAN in 2024, though she has teased that she is currently dating someone new.
Sex Life and Dating Philosophy
Elsewhere in the podcast conversation, Christine emphasized the significance of intimacy in her relationships. 'Sex is massively important to me and it matters,' she stated. 'I've realised communication is a huge part of it and you should feel comfortable enough to say what you do and don't like.'
The model contrasted her extravagant first date approach with more recent, natural experiences. 'I think first dates need to be excited and sexy. I have only just started doing these real life dates which I never thought as a date,' she explained, describing a recent park walk with a cheese toastie that turned into a lovely day date. However, she noted this comfortable dynamic only works with someone she already knows well.
Navigating Post-Divorce Dating Challenges
Christine also discussed the unique challenges of dating after her high-profile separation. She admitted giving her 'situationships' nicknames in her phone to prevent her three children - twins Leo and Penelope, and Felicity - from seeing their names. The children, all diagnosed with autism, have shown remarkable maturity about their parents' divorce according to Christine.
'They've absolutely blown my mind with how much they understand, and how mature they are,' she told Daily Mail in October. 'It makes me feel very proud of not just how well I've done as a mum, but as a family how open we are.'
One particular dating hurdle Christine identified involves watching films with partners. 'Not with everyone I've dated but I can't sit and watch a film, I've really struggled,' she confessed. Reflecting on her 15-year relationship with Paddy, she noted they were often too busy with life to watch films together, making this a new experience in her dating life.
Life After Paddy McGuinness
Christine and Paddy, who wed in 2011, had been living together for their children's sake before finalizing their divorce out of court last summer. The separation proved difficult, particularly when their £6.5 million Cheshire mansion was put on the market. Despite the challenges, Christine expressed admiration for her ex-husband's work ethic.
'I think he is a really hard worker, and he has always been a grafter. He loves his work, and I admire that,' she said. 'He has inspired me to want to work more, and to be independent and go for it.'
Since her divorce, Christine briefly appeared on Celebs Go Dating but left the show early, later joking during the finale that she should have stayed since other participants found love. Ultimately, she expressed feeling 'completely free' after reuniting with her children, embracing her new normal while maintaining open communication with her family about relationships and adulthood.
