Christina Aguilera has responded to speculation about her appearance in a New Year's Eve video montage. The 44-year-old US pop star has faced scrutiny over her new look, with some experts suggesting she represents a new era of 'undetectable' cosmetic surgery.
In her post, which featured highlights from the past year including live shows and brand partnerships, Aguilera also displayed online comments about her appearance, such as 'She looks so different' and 'Fake'. She said: 'This is a reminder to everyone that you are your OWN STORYTELLER in your OWN LIFE. No one else can dictate who you are. No one deserves an explanation.'
Aguilera continued: 'Acceptance comes with accepting yourself first. And the difficult journey it takes sometimes to get there. I celebrate everyone taking the time to put one step in front of the next everyday in order to build the next version of themselves for the better.'
Last August, she addressed claims of using Ozempic for weight loss, telling an outlet: 'I have a maturity now where I just don't give a f*** about your opinion. I'm not going to take it on. Other people's opinions of me are not my business.' She reflected on how media scrutiny of her weight in her youth affected her self-esteem, and noted that having children helped shift her mindset.
