Chloe Madeley Opens Up About 'Volatile' Divorce from James Haskell

Chloe Madeley has described her divorce from former rugby player James Haskell as 'incredibly emotional and volatile', two years after the couple separated. The 38-year-old fitness trainer, who shares three-year-old daughter Bodhi with Haskell, said that while co-parenting has 'fallen into place', the divorce process was fraught with difficulty.

Speaking to The Sun, Madeley revealed that she and Haskell experience weeks of getting on well, followed by weeks of disagreement and anger. She said she implemented 'a hard policy' to avoid the 'big blowout rows' that led her to leave the marriage. The uncertainty of their relationship meant she would 'drop off the radar' only to see him at the gym, and their relationship would be 'back on track'.

The daughter of television presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan admitted that receiving the final divorce decree on 30 December felt like an 'undiluted slap in the face'. She said it made her feel like she had 'failed', adding that it would take 'a time of grieving' before she could see it as a fresh start.

Madeley, who was in a relationship with Haskell for 11 years and married for five before their split in October 2023, said she never wants to be in a relationship with him again and is unsure about any future relationships, describing the marriage as having become 'incredibly dark and sad and painful'. She also revealed she suffered from depression after the separation that required medication, but has now reached a place where she is 'loving life again'.

She acknowledged that Haskell will have his own version of events, but stressed that their relationship as co-parents has improved and that he is a great father to Bodhi.
