Cheryl Tweedy Wants Another Baby, Even If She's Single, Source Says
Cheryl Tweedy 'Wants Another Baby' Even If Single

Cheryl Tweedy is reportedly keen to have another baby after her Girls Aloud bandmate Nicola Roberts became a mum for the first time last month, and she's considering doing it alone even if she remains single.

Cheryl's Baby Dreams Revived by Nicola's New Arrival

They have been close friends for over two decades, so no one was more thrilled by the arrival of Nicola Roberts' first baby than her Girls Aloud bandmate, Cheryl Tweedy. Nicola, 40, became a mum for the first time last month, sharing the happy news of her baby daughter's arrival in an emotional Instagram post. She wrote, 'Our beautiful baby girl is here. We haven't stopped staring at her perfect little face or kissing her softest little head. She arrived healthy and content a couple of weeks ago at 38 weeks weighing 6.5lbs and is thriving. It's heaven on earth with her and we can hardly believe she's ours.'

With Cheryl delighted that her friend is now part of the Girls Aloud 'mum club', a source tells us it has also made her broody. The mother-of-one has previously admitted she is 'always broody', and we are told the arrival of Nicola's daughter, whose father is footballer Mitch Hahn, 39, has made the star even more eager to give her nine-year-old son Bear a sibling.

Cheryl's Consideration of Solo Motherhood

'Cheryl would love another baby and Nicola having one has made her think there is a chance,' our source says. 'Bear's had such a traumatic start to his early years, so she'd love to have a little brother or sister for him. It's definitely made her more broody.' According to our source, single Cheryl does not see why she cannot have another baby by herself, without needing a partner. 'Cheryl has considered having a baby on her own, because time is ticking and it might not happen,' says the source. 'She'd love a little girl, but she loves having a boy, too. She's so close with Bear and Cheryl is a tomboy at heart.'

Speaking in 2019, Cheryl joked that she wanted '100 kids', admitting, 'I'm always broody, I've been broody since I was about 13 years old.' On the subject of going it alone, she added, 'You don't necessarily need to be in a relationship,' while more recently she has said she would consider adoption.

Cheryl's Supportive Role as 'Auntie'

For now, however, it seems she is content to play a doting 'auntie' to her close pal's tot. Last week, Nicola shared a series of photos of herself cradling her newborn daughter, along with a snap of her fiancé Mitch carrying their daughter out of hospital in a car seat and an image of the baby's tiny hand. Nicola's announcement was met with an outpouring of love from famous pals, including her former Girls Aloud bandmates. Nadine Coyle wrote, 'Congratulations!!!!!!!!! Sending so much love!!' Kimberley Walsh said, 'She is absolute perfection. I still can't believe she's here.'

Kimberley – mother to sons Bobby, 11, Cole, nine, and Nate, five, with husband Justin Scott – and Cheryl celebrated Nicola's pregnancy news at a Bridgerton-themed baby shower in April. Our source says Cheryl is now keen to play an active role in the baby's life, having enjoyed the bond Bear shares with Kimberley's son Cole, who are said to be 'proper buddies'. 'The girls have been rallying around Nicola since she had the baby, particularly Cheryl, who's been very supportive,' says our source. 'The girls became very close after losing Liam and Sarah, and Cheryl could well be godmother to Nicola's baby.'

Cheryl's Recent Traumas and Support Network

It is no secret that Cheryl, 42, has had a traumatic few years, after losing loved ones. In 2021, she was devastated when her bandmate Sarah Harding passed away from cancer aged just 39. Then in October 2024, her ex-partner Liam Payne – Bear's father – died at 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina. Cheryl described his death as an 'earth-shattering event' and 'indescribably painful'. Taking to Instagram, she posted a snap of Liam with Bear, who now has to 'face the reality of never seeing his father again'. The former couple first met when a teenage Liam auditioned for The X Factor in 2008, but romance did not blossom until some eight years later. They dated for two years, welcoming Bear in 2017, but split a year later before going on to amicably co-parent their son.

In addition to her heartbreak and loss, Cheryl has had other high-profile traumas to deal with in recent months. Last year, she was at the centre of a stalking ordeal, which saw convicted killer Daniel Bannister jailed in September after he breached a restraining order and visited her home. Then, in April, her estranged brother Andrew Tweedy, 45, was pictured living in a tent and begging outside a supermarket, following three failed rehab stints. Luckily, the former X Factor judge has a rock-solid support network in Kimberley and Nicola, who she has called 'the best friends anyone could ever ask for', so let us hope the arrival of Nicola's baby girl has finally given Cheryl something to smile about.
