Chelsea Handler has publicly criticised celebrity chef Bobby Flay, labelling him 'cheap' after what she described as a 'messy' date. The 51-year-old comedian made the revelation during an appearance on Kristin Cavallari's podcast, Let's Be Honest, where she shared a 'bad celebrity date story' for the first time.
Handler's Date with Flay
Handler recounted that 'someone hooked us up' and they had been 'talking on the phone, flirting a little bit' before a hotel incident soured the experience. While staying at a hotel Flay knew well, he offered to order room service for Handler and her friends. However, he left her with the bill, prompting others to warn her: 'Oh, yeah, he's really cheap.' Handler admitted she dislikes cheapness, stating, 'If you're penurious, I'm not interested in you. I'm generous and I like people to be generous with their money.' She concluded that the date itself was 'just not a match' and 'messy.'
Handler's Dating History
Handler has dated several high-profile figures, including hotelier Andre Balazs, Animal Planet's Dave Salmoni, and TV executive Ted Harbert. She is currently in a relationship with construction executive Joe Largura, whom she 'hard-launched' on Instagram in March. Meanwhile, Flay is dating fellow chef Brooke Williamson. Cavallari, who has been open about her past relationships with Morgan Wallen and Jason Statham, is currently single.
The Daily Mail has contacted Flay's representatives for comment.
