Charlotte Jordan, known for her role as Daisy Midgeley on Coronation Street, is now starring in the new BBC detective series The Hairdresser Mysteries. She plays Clary Coombs, the brilliant and analytical assistant to Sally Phillips' character Lily Petal, a hairdresser turned amateur detective. The six-part series, penned by Jim Cartwright, sees Lily solving murders that occur in her community.
Life Away from the Screen
Off-screen, Charlotte enjoys a serene lifestyle, often sharing glimpses of her daily life on Instagram. She is in a happy relationship with her boyfriend Paul, frequently posting affectionate photos. In a Christmas 2022 post, she joked about being a "third wheel" to their French bulldog, Olive, captioning: "We've had Olive eleven months and eight days so as you can see I've been third wheeling for eleven months and eight days." On Valentine's Day, she playfully wrote: "My valentine, sorry Paul," alongside a picture of Olive.
Co-Star Boyfriend Cameo
Charlotte had a unique opportunity to share the screen with Paul on Coronation Street. During a scene where Daisy was seducing Ryan Connor, social distancing rules during the Covid-19 pandemic meant she was actually grabbing Paul's leg instead of the actor's. She revealed this in an interview, noting that Paul is not an actor but managed a cameo.
Real Accent Surprise
Fans are often surprised to learn that Charlotte's natural accent is not Northern, as heard in her roles. In a This Morning interview, she spoke with her native Southern accent, revealing she is from Surrey. Viewers took to Twitter (now X) expressing shock, with comments like: "I didn't expect Daisy to sound like that! Great northern accent #thismorning" and "Her voice?! #thismorning."
The Hairdresser Mysteries is available on BBC iPlayer, with episodes airing Fridays at 2pm on BBC One.
