Charlize Theron Spotted on Rare Public Outing with Eldest Child Jackson

Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron was photographed enjoying a sunny Sunday outing with her eldest child, Jackson, at the Studio City Farmers Market in Los Angeles. The 50-year-old South African star, known for her role in Monster, appeared relaxed and stylish as she browsed fresh produce, including carrots, while accompanied by her 13-year-old son.

Effortlessly Cool Style on Display

Theron showcased her signature casual elegance in a simple white tank top paired with classic blue jeans. She accessorized with a grey sweater draped over her shoulders, black boots, and sunglasses that shielded her eyes from the bright California sun. As she left the market carrying two bags of fresh produce, the actress flashed a warm smile for photographers.

Meanwhile, Jackson demonstrated his own laid-back fashion sense in a blue t-shirt, oversized navy sweatpants, and comfortable UGG slippers for their leisurely market visit. The mother-son duo appeared completely at ease during their rare public appearance together.

Children's 'Zero Respect' for Hollywood Career

The outing comes after Theron humorously revealed during a May appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live that her children have "zero respect" for her illustrious Hollywood career, regardless of her numerous awards and accomplishments. Laughing with the audience, the actress confessed, "I feel like I'm pretty humble, but every once in a while I'm like there's a f*****g Oscar right there."

Theron shared an amusing anecdote about how her children were more impressed by Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible poster than her own daring helicopter stunt work on Old Guard 2. "My child yesterday just looked at this poster of Tom Cruise and went 'That's weird, he looks so much cooler than you did when you were hanging off that helicopter,'" she recounted with laughter.

Adoption as a First Choice

The actress has been open about her decision to adopt children, explaining to PEOPLE in 2018 that adoption was always her first choice for building a family. Inspired by her upbringing in South Africa where she was exposed to orphanages and children in need, Theron stated, "This was definitely not a second option for me. It was always my first."

In November 2023, Theron spoke candidly about the challenges and rewards of single parenting, telling PEOPLE, "(Being) a parent in general is hard, when you're in it, you're like, 'I'm never going to survive this.' And then you get to the other side, you're like, 'Oh my God, this is amazing. I can't believe I did that.'"

Relationship History

Theron's relationship history includes dating actor Craig Bierko from 1995 to 1997, followed by a three-year relationship with singer Stephan Jenkins that ended in October 2001. She then began a relationship with Irish actor Stuart Townsend after meeting him on the set of Trapped in 2001. The couple lived together in both Los Angeles and Ireland before their separation in late 2009.

The Oscar winner made history as the first South African to win an acting Academy Award when she received the Best Actress honor for her transformative performance in the 2003 drama Monster. Despite her children's humorous lack of awe for her professional achievements, Theron continues to balance her successful Hollywood career with her dedication to motherhood.
