Pop star Charli XCX has released a new music video for the track 'Residue' by AG Cook, featuring a surprise cameo from reality TV star and businesswoman Kylie Jenner. The nearly three-minute video, released on Tuesday, is part of Charli's upcoming satirical film 'The Moment', produced by A24.
The video opens with Charli XCX dressed in a white tank top, black shorts, and leather boots – a look from her 'Brat era' previously seen in her '360' video. After dropping a cigarette, she dons black sunglasses and walks through dimly lit warehouse hallways, with flashes of 'Brat' green appearing on stacks of merchandise T-shirts.
As the camera follows, a clone of the singer crosses her path before she enters a room filled with Charli look-alikes, standing before a sign reading 'The Moment'. The screen flashes words like '365', 'girl move on', and 'it's over', before the clones begin dancing. The video ends with a single figure, revealed to be Kylie Jenner, taking a final puff of a cigarette.
'The Moment' chronicles the cultural phenomenon following Charli XCX's 2024 album 'Brat' and her journey to a world tour. The film stars Charli as a fictionalised version of herself, alongside Jenner, Alexander Skarsgård, and Rosanna Arquette, with a soundtrack composed by AG Cook. It has received mixed reviews, with The Hollywood Reporter calling it 'more fan service than funny' but praising Charli as a 'natural, engaging actor'. The Playlist praised her 'borderline heartbreaking' monologue.
'The Moment' will be released in US cinemas on 30 January and in British and Irish cinemas on 20 February.
