Thursday’s episode of Loose Women turned emotional as host Charlene White shared her experience of grieving for her late mother while pregnant with her first child. The panel, including Judi Love, Brenda Edwards, and Kelle Bryan, were moved to tears as White recalled sobbing in the bath, feeling unprepared for motherhood without her mother.
White said a friend recommended she speak to a professional, which she did for three sessions. ‘All I did was cry and share memories of my mum,’ she explained. ‘By the time I finished, a huge weight was lifted. I felt I could become a mother because I wasn’t holding on to that grief.’ She urged others dealing with grief to talk, saying, ‘Holding on to that grief isn’t healthy.’
Viewers took to Twitter to express their support, with one writing, ‘You moved me to tears talking so openly about your mental health.’ Another said, ‘After losing my dad to Covid last week, it’s made me realise it’s OK to need help.’ The segment was part of ITV’s Get Britain Talking campaign, encouraging people to share their feelings.
