Chappell Roan has playfully called out a fan after catching them mid-yawn during a recent concert. The 27-year-old American singer was performing her hit song California when she spotted an audience member yawning, describing the moment as 'insane' before continuing to tease the sleepy fan during a rendition of Pink Pony Club.
The incident took place on the first night of her Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things tour at Forest Hills Stadium in New York. Video clips of the exchange were shared on TikTok, X and Instagram, showing Roan pausing mid-song to say: 'I just saw someone yawn. That's insane.' In a second clip, she jokingly warned: 'B***h, don't yawn,' before launching into the chorus of Pink Pony Club.
Fans saw the funny side, with one commenting: 'As an elder millennial, I get it, concerts start too late, I wanna be in bed by 10pm.' Another wrote: 'Chappell caught that yawn like a hawk, girl said NOT during Pink Pony Club.' A third added: 'That's peak Chappell energy and I love her for it.'
Roan, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, has become known for her outspoken approach since her rise to fame. This was evident at last year's MTV VMAs, where she confronted a photographer who told her to 'shut the f**k up,' replying: 'No, you shut the f**k up.'
Despite her busy tour schedule, Roan has said she is in no rush to release a follow-up to her debut album. Speaking to Vogue earlier this year, she explained: 'The second project doesn't exist yet. There is no album. There is no collection of songs. It took me five years to write the first one, and it's probably going to take at least five to write the next.'
