Celtic urged to sign Hearts star as Reo Hatate replacement

Celtic have been urged to raid Hearts for Cammy Devlin as a potential replacement for Reo Hatate, who is expected to leave the club this summer. The call came during the latest Hotline, where fans also debated Rangers' transfer strategy and Martin O'Neill's impact.

Rangers fans hit back at claims of fear

Rangers supporters were quick to dismiss suggestions that their club is running scared of Celtic boss Martin O'Neill. Alan Flett, via email, said: "Oh yes, we're really scared of Martin O'Neill! You've just taken the cheap and easy option like you always do. You won the league because Rangers blew it and Hearts were cheated. It was nothing to do with O'Neill. If Rangers get their summer recruitment right, we will win the league at a canter. You lot won't spend any money, and I suspect that Hearts won't be anywhere near it next time."

Celtic fans rally behind O'Neill

Unsurprisingly, Celtic supporters see it differently. Jim McShane, from New Hampshire, said: "So we have O'Neill back at the helm to guide Celtic for another season at the least. Please, no more talk about his age. It doesn't matter. The man has charisma, ethos and pathos, and no, I'm not talking about the Three Musketeers. The players would run through a wall for this man. Can the same be said about the Rangers team? Would the players run through a wall for Danny Rohl? I think the answer is clear."

Hatate departure opens door for Devlin?

O'Neill has a ton of work to do in the transfer market and he could be losing some stars as well, with Reo Hatate expected to be part of a summer leaving list. But Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, said: "While I'm disappointed Reo Hatate has decided to move on and instead not stay and fight for his place, I'm not surprised. I believe the physical side of the Scottish game is not to his liking and I'm convinced Martin O'Neill has noticed this. However, with Cammy Devlin still pondering his next move, surely he'd be an excellent acquisition in midfield; he could potentially be our next Scott Brown in waiting."

Rangers fans anxious over slow transfer business

The transfer window isn't even open yet but some punters are already getting twitchy. Cooper Steven, Kent, said: "Rangers have Euro qualifying coming up so getting transfer business done early should have been a major priority. What is Danny Rohl waiting for? If he has a less than brilliant start to the season, then the fans will soon get on his back, and the boardroom, who have so far not exactly covered themselves in glory, will be in the firing line again. If the decision by the Chairman had already been made to stick with Rohl for another season, then surely a plan should have already been in place to move thickly at the end of the season and secure players being targeted as quickly as possible? I'm still not convinced that the Ibrox board know what they are doing."

Chermiti price tag draws criticism

Youssef Chermiti is a wanted man but some fans are not sold on the bumper price tag on the Gers striker. Liam Birney, Paisley, said: "I wonder how the usual suspects will respond to Rangers laughable £25m valuation of Youssef Chermiti after years of saying Celtic inflate their valuations. Never in the history has a team who finished third in a title race achieved a fee like that. Only the league winners have received this type of fee – as evidenced at Celtic with the likes of Matt O'Riley and Kieran Tierney."
