Vanessa Feltz has revealed that her stint on Celebs Go Dating was 'difficult' and claimed the show is 'heavily edited'. The 61-year-old This Morning star, who split from fiancé Ben Ofoedu in February, spoke about her experiences at the National Television Awards on Tuesday.
She described the dating show as an 'education', admitting it had been 'a little difficult in parts'. Feltz also addressed criticism from viewers who accused her of appearing 'uninterested' and 'rude' during dates. She joked she had learned to 'try smiling a bit more and not looking so fed up'.
However, Feltz said the editing played a role, stating: 'Sometimes, I smiled for a good two hours and it was just at the very end I looked a bit fed up.' Her journey on the show has been rocky, with disagreements with relationship experts and a particularly triggering date with a man who resembled her ex.
During an episode aired on 30 August, Feltz confessed to feeling 'triggered' after being paired with a man who bore a resemblance to Ofoedu. She said: 'He looks like my ex, he sounds like my ex and is in the same profession... I feel hugely triggered, trapped - I wanna run away.'
The former couple ended their 16-year relationship after Ofoedu admitted to sexting and infidelity. Reflecting on the breakup, Feltz said she felt 'incredibly sad' but was resolved not to let it defeat her.
