The second day followed a rocky start for British number one Cameron Norrie, who was defeated by American qualifier Michael Zheng in a final-set tie-break on day one. However, Katie Swan halted the British exodus by claiming only the second grand slam singles victory of her career, a triumph she feared might be slipping away.
