Celebrity Traitors returns today (October 1), and fans are already developing their own wild theories about who could win the series, who could be cast as a Traitor and who would make a good Faithful.
After a successful series one – won by comedian Alan Carr – fans can't wait to tune into the latest instalment, which features a new host of celebrity faces. Taking part this year are: Miranda Hart, Michael Sheen, King Kenny, Ross Kemp, James Blunt, Bella Ramsey, Joe Lycett, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jerry Hall, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Maya Jama, Myha'la, Amol Rajan, James Acaster, Sebastian Croft, Sharon Rooney, Richard E Grant, Joanne McNally and Hannah Fry.
Filming halted
According to The Sun, comedian James Acaster's anxiety led to filming being halted behind the scenes, after he "panicked" at the castle. The insider claimed: "The show is incredibly intense and during one particular scene at the castle, James became very anxious and panicked. Some of the other celebrities on the show spoke up and said cameras should stop rolling so he could calm down, and production were in agreement as well."
James had a "breather", which "didn't affect the outcome of the game at all".
A spokesperson for the BBC show said: "The Traitors is a unique and immersive game, and we recognise that taking part can be intense at times.
"Our highest priority is always the safety and welfare of everyone taking part. Players are closely monitored and supported throughout by production, which includes a dedicated and experienced welfare team."
James previously spoke about his mental health, telling iNews in 2022: "I always thought talking about mental health wasn't a taboo thing. Whenever anyone said 'it's important that we talk about it', it always felt like 'well, yeah. I've always been open with my friends, even when I was a teenager'.
"Talking about my feelings was always something I did a lot anyway. So I didn't really see it as a big deal. The only reason I didn't talk about my feelings in stand-up was because I thought, 'that will be self-indulgent, so I won't do it'."
Major spoiler
Fans became convinced that series two star Jerry Hall gave away a massive spoiler ahead of the show airing. The actress and model posted a picture with her co-star Rob Beckett, with the pair of them seen beaming in a garden next to a scarecrow. Jerry captioned her social media post: "Hanging out with my Celebrity Traitors friend Rob Beckett."
But viewers are convinced this means the pair get close on the series – and could both be Traitors.
One eagle-eyed fan said: "Not two celebs you think would form an obvious friendship on the show… unless they were bonded through both being Traitors perhaps?"
Another echoed: "I think that's the nice thing about celeb Traitors, they bond in an unexpected way."
'Jaw-dropping' twist
A source told The Sun earlier this year that Celeb Traitors fans are about to see a "first" in the history of the show.
They told the publication: "Those working on the programme were quite shocked by the approach adopted by the core Traitors. They went on a recruiting spree that has never been seen on either the celebrity or the 'civilian' version of the show in the UK."
