The BAFTA-winning Celebrity Race Across the World is set to return to BBC One and iPlayer this autumn, with a brand-new line-up of celebrity duos. The series, produced by Studio Lambert, will see four pairs embark on a challenging 5,900km journey through Central America, starting on the Caribbean island of Isla Mujeres in Mexico and finishing in the remote Península de La Guajira in Colombia.
The celebrity teams announced on Thursday 18 September include broadcaster and writer Anita Rani with her father Bal, actor Dylan Llewellyn with his mother Jackie, partners Tyler West (presenter and DJ) and Molly Rainford (actor and singer), and broadcaster Roman Kemp with his sister Harleymoon, a singer-songwriter. The reveal culminated with Roman Kemp announcing his participation live on The One Show, where a first-look image of all four teams was also unveiled.
Contestants will swap luxury for backpacks, relying on limited budgets, local transport, and the kindness of strangers, without smartphones or bank cards. The journey promises to test and transform relationships as the celebrities discover the world and themselves in unexpected ways.
Tim Harcourt, Chief Creative Officer at Studio Lambert, said: 'The series’ success is a testament to how much audiences connect with the show’s raw emotion, incredible journeys, and heartfelt human stories. This series brings a new set of celebrities into that world and what makes it so special is watching them open up, bond, and grow through a life-changing experience.'
Catherine Catton, Head of Commissioning for Factual Entertainment and Events at the BBC, added: 'Celebrity Race Across the World is always a highlight of the year, and we are really looking forward to setting off with a new group of famous faces and their loved ones on an incredible journey full of twists and turns.'
The six-part series is commissioned by Catherine Catton, with Jasmyn McGuile as BBC Commissioning Editor and executive producer. Executive producers for Studio Lambert include Rob Fisher, Charlotte Woolley, Emma Peach, and Tim Harcourt, with Sophie Beck as production executive. All3Media International handles global distribution.
