Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, and John Oliver are joining forces for a new limited podcast series titled Strike Force Five, launching this Wednesday on Spotify. The 12-episode series comes as audiences go without late-night talk shows due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
The five talk-show hosts promise to bring their unique insights, opinions, and humour to the show as they navigate the Hollywood strikes and beyond. The podcast is sponsored by Mint Mobile and Diageo.
In an Instagram teaser, the hosts introduced the series with light banter. Jimmy Fallon explained, 'The five of us together for maybe an hour a day,' while Jimmy Kimmel added, 'Strike Force Five is the name of our podcast! Subscribe to it now!' Seth Meyers chimed in, 'Spotify or wherever else you get your podcast,' and John Oliver concluded with a NSFW send-off: 'But Spotify, you f***s.'
All proceeds received by the hosts from Strike Force Five will go to out-of-work staff from their respective shows: CBS's The Late Show, NBC's The Tonight Show, ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live!, NBC's Late Night, and HBO's Last Week Tonight.
The last time Colbert, Fallon, Kimmel, and Meyers joined forces was to bid farewell to James Corden on the finale of CBS's The Late Late Show on April 27. Meanwhile, Real Time host Bill Maher continues his own podcast Club Random from his Beverly Hills mansion.
The Writers Guild of America has been on strike since May 2, and the Screen Actors Guild–American Federation of Television and Radio Artists since July 14, marking the first time in four decades both unions are striking simultaneously, demanding updated streaming residuals and AI regulations.
