CBeebies has announced a significant change to its long-running programme, Something Special, which first aired in 2003. The show, traditionally fronted by Justin Fletcher as Mr Tumble, will now feature additional presenters in its upcoming 14th series.
The BBC confirmed that Maddie Moate and Ben Cajee will join the cast, alongside regular appearances from George Webster. The new format will see Mr Tumble send his Spotty Bag and Tumble Tapp to one of the three presenters at the start of each episode, who will then guide children through activities using Makaton signs.
Ben Cajee shared his excitement on social media, stating: 'When I was younger, other than opening the batting for England or running West Ham’s midfield, I didn’t know what I wanted to do for work. This iconic show is entering its 14th season and the legacy and responsibility for these children and the audience isn’t lost on me.' The first episode featuring the new lineup will air on his birthday, 13th January.
Maddie Moate also expressed her gratitude, writing: 'I can’t even begin to share my gratitude and awe of the production team behind this show. The amount of love and care that goes into making the most joyous experience for the children is inspiring.' She reassured fans that the show's core values remain unchanged.
Justin Fletcher, who has portrayed Mr Tumble since the show's inception, will continue to feature prominently. The BBC emphasised that the additions aim to enhance the programme while maintaining its familiar, welcoming atmosphere.
