Cat Deeley was left emotional during a segment on ITV's This Morning as celebrity chef Jamie Oliver surprised a school cook with a lifetime achievement award. The presenter admitted she was 'tearing up' as the touching scene unfolded live on air.
Phyllis, a school cook who has spent 45 years preparing meals for children, was enjoying breakfast at a restaurant when Jamie Oliver walked in with a bunch of flowers. He told her she had won the Lifetime Achievement Award at his Good School Food Awards and would be taken to the This Morning studio for an interview with hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.
Stunned, Phyllis held her hands to her face and confessed she was 'shocked'. Jamie revealed she had 'done over a million meals, 10,000 kids in 45 years', adding: 'That's a lot of cooking. That would make a lot of chefs very, very scared.' As Phyllis became emotional, Jamie said: 'I love the tears, but they are tears of 45 years of very hard work.'
Watching from the studio, Cat Deeley said: 'I'm tearing up as well!' The segment highlighted Phyllis's dedication and was met with applause from Jamie and the crew.
