BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has announced she married her long-term partner Steve Randall in a private ceremony in Buckinghamshire on Wednesday, two days after Christmas. The 61-year-old revealed the news on BBC Breakfast this morning, describing it as 'the most perfect and romantic and intimate wedding'.
The couple, who first announced their engagement live on BBC Breakfast in 2022, tied the knot in a small ceremony. Carol said: 'We are both so incredibly happy.' She later posted on X: 'It wasn’t a secret wedding, just a private one.'
Former BBC Breakfast co-star Dan Walker was among the first to congratulate the couple, calling Carol 'the best of us all'. Sally Nugent and Jon Kay also shared their best wishes. The couple's engagement was revealed during the Chelsea Flower Show in 2022, when Carol showed off her ring on air.
Carol has previously described Steve, 47, as 'extremely handsome' and said he 'never fails to make her laugh'. She told Prima Magazine: 'He always makes me a cup of tea before I go to work at 2.45am. That, to me, is worth a million red roses.'
The couple began their relationship in 2021, after Carol's divorce from her husband of 25 years, Jimmy, in the late 2000s. Carol has said Steve is 'the best thing that’s ever happened to me, without a shadow of a doubt'.
