Strictly Come Dancing professional Carlos Gu was left in floods of tears as he bid an emotional farewell to his fellow pro and tour partner Amy Dowden. The pair had just concluded their joint tour titled Carlos and Amy: Reborn, which kicked off in May 2026 and saw them performing across the UK in cities including Cardiff, Birmingham, and Salford. The tour celebrated Amy's return to the dancefloor after her battle with cancer, featuring tear-jerking routines accompanied by live vocalists.
Emotional Backstage Moment Captured on Instagram
In a clip shared on Instagram, the 32-year-old Chinese native was overcome with emotion at the tour ending. Struggling to fight back tears, Carlos sobbed while shirtless, clutching a bottle of water. Amy, who filmed the moment, chuckled and asked, "What are you crying for?" The visibly distressed dancer responded, "I don't know, and you're not crying," before admitting, "Reborn is finished."
Carlos continued to audibly sob and pat his face while a crew member entered the dressing room and said, "I just couldn't stop crying, I don't know why." Amy laughed at the hysterics, while Carlos remarked, "Oh my God, my makeup," adjusting his eye makeup in the mirror. Turning back to the crew member, he joked, "She [Amy] didn't even give me a hug." He then dramatically emptied the bottle of water over his head, as Amy brushed off his comments and exclaimed, "I love you."
Amy Dowden's Heartfelt Tour Tribute
Taking to the caption of the Instagram post, Amy explained: "It's been emotional! The most special, meaningful tour we wasn't ready to say goodbye! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you! Tour cast and crew, we love you. What talents we are so lucky to be surrounded by. A full post coming soon. But I'll leave you with this. (btw I cried on stage saying good bye!) I love you my Gu @gkx_carlos."
Support from Fans and Fellow Strictly Stars
As fans rushed to the comments, the duo's celebrity pals also responded. Strictly's Katya Jones penned, "Oh, we love you, Gu." GB News regular Lizzie Cundy simply added, "Awwww," with an array of red love-heart emojis. One fan wrote, "Same Carlos, same. Can't believe it's all over, the best and most special tour." Another echoed, "I feel the exact same, so sad it's over but what a special special tour - so proud." A third praised, "The tour was amazing and very open and honest. Be proud of yourselves. Made us emotional, too. Sending lots of love."
