Cardiff Blackweir Live: The Cure Headlines With Road Closures

The Cure is set to headline Blackweir Live in Cardiff on June 24, 2026, with gates opening at 5pm and the band expected to perform a two-and-a-half-hour set from 8pm to 10.30pm. Organisers confirmed the show is still on as of June 23, despite a red weather warning for severe heat issued by the Met Office for parts of south Wales from Wednesday 9am to Thursday 9pm.

Road Closures for Blackweir Live

Cardiff Council has announced road closures from 4pm to midnight on June 24. Affected roads include Castle Street from Westgate Street, Duke Street, Kingsway, North Road from Colum Road to Boulevard De Nantes, and Boulevard De Nantes to Park Place. Buses will have access via Park Place and Boulevard De Nantes to Greyfriars Road. Cowbridge Road East from Cathedral Road to Westgate Street is closed, with access to Westgate Street permitted. The Civic Centre area, including King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road, and Gorsedd Gardens Road, will be controlled from 7am. The right-hand turn from Colum Road into Corbett Road is suspended for resident and business access.

Heat Measures and Site Information

Due to the heatwave, organisers have implemented extra measures: attendees may bring two 500ml sealed water bottles per person (previously one), additional shaded areas and free water refill stations are available, plastic refillable bottles and mini fans are permitted, and an enhanced welfare team will be on site. The entrance is via North Road into the park, with signs for accessible entry.

Public Transport Adjustments

Great Western Railway is adding carriages for post-concert travel to Bristol, but trains are expected to be very busy. Transport for Wales has added capacity on routes to and from Cardiff, with later services scheduled. From 10pm, Cathays station and its bridge will close, directing passengers to Cardiff Central or Cardiff Queen Street, where queuing systems will be in place. Cardiff Bus Interchange will close in line with road closures, and car park closures at Cardiff Central station are in effect. Local bus services are diverted; check operator websites for details. National Express coaches depart as normal from Sophia Gardens.

Setlist and Ticket Information

The setlist, based on The Cure's Isle of Wight show on June 21, includes hits like 'Boys Don't Cry', 'Close to Me', and 'Friday I'm in Love'. Resale tickets may be available via Ticketmaster or StubHub. All tickets are mobile entry via the Ticketmaster app; download before arrival.
