Cara Delevingne has revealed that while she dislikes labels, she proudly identifies as a lesbian and aspires to build a family with her girlfriend. The 33-year-old British model and actress opened up about her four-year romance with Minke, 34, in an interview with Variety, expressing that she cannot envision being with anyone else and is deeply proud of her sexual identity.
Setting the Record Straight
In the interview, Delevingne stated: 'I hate labels, I always have hated labels, but I don't see myself being with anyone else for the rest of my life now. I want to have a family with this woman, so yes, I am a very proud lesbian.' This clarification comes after her past high-profile relationships with actress Ashley Benson, musician St. Vincent, and actress Michelle Rodriguez.
Reunion and Sobriety
Delevingne and Minke first met as students at the £52,000-per-year Bedales boarding school in Hampshire but only began dating in 2022 after being reunited at an Alanis Morissette concert. Delevingne credits Minke with helping her maintain sobriety over the years.
On Stage Confessions
Her revelations follow a recent appearance at Rosalia's London O2 gig, where she participated in the singer's confessional booth. Delevingne declared to the 20,000-strong crowd: 'I have been naughty, I was born that way. If you didn't know this already, I'm a lesbian.' She added, 'My weakness used to be straight women, because they weren't really straight,' and mused that she doesn't believe anyone is fully straight.
Relationship Dynamics
Delevingne also discussed her relationship dynamics, saying: 'Now I am in a committed relationship. I used to always love being the dominant one, I liked to take control. I think it was because I was scared of being seen, I was scared to be submissive because I didn't want to receive love. But now I think I'm ready.' She sought reassurance from Rosalia about maintaining her fiery, dominant side while embracing submission, to which Rosalia replied, 'Why do you have to be one or the other?' Delevingne agreed, affirming that she wanted to ensure she could balance both aspects of her personality.
