Cara Delevingne Confirms 'Entanglement' with Amber Heard

Cara Delevingne has confirmed she was “entangled” with Amber Heard after the Aquaman actress’s divorce from Johnny Depp. The British model revealed the romance for the first time on The Louis Theroux Podcast, stating that Depp was “driven crazy by jealousy” when the two women grew close while working on the film London Fields.

Details of the Relationship

Delevingne and Heard were first romantically linked in 2016, the same year Heard filed for divorce from Depp. During the podcast interview, Theroux asked, “Are we going to mention the Johnny Depp thing? He was driven crazy by the idea that Amber might be sleeping with you.” Delevingne replied, “Am I meant to comment?” before adding, “Yeah. It’s because we did a movie together, and it was called London Fields. He was also doing the movie. I think he was pretty driven crazy, by jealousy, I suppose. Nothing was happening at that point. Later, after they divorced, it had, I suppose.”

When Theroux pressed, “You suppose?” Delevingne confirmed, “No, I don’t suppose. I do know. Yeah. An entanglement? What is the word?” Theroux suggested the term meant “a relatively short-lived liaison or series of physical encounters.” Delevingne elaborated, “We were close for a long time, and then when they were going through the divorce, yeah, we were entangled, I suppose. But she was also entangled with other people.” Theroux clarified, “Well, with Elon,” referencing Heard’s relationship with Elon Musk, to which Delevingne replied, “There you go.”

Background on Heard and Depp

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp married in February 2015, but the marriage was short-lived. Heard filed for divorce and obtained a temporary restraining order in May 2016, with the divorce finalized in 2017. In 2022, Depp sued Heard for defamation over a 2018 Washington Post article, which his lawyers argued accused him of being an abuser. Following a six-week trial in Fairfax County, Virginia, jurors returned a verdict in Depp’s favor. Depp had previously sued News Group Newspapers, the owner of The Sun, in the UK over an article that called him a “wife beater”; a judge ruled the content was “substantially true.”

Delevingne’s Sobriety and Mental Health

During the interview, Delevingne, now sober and pursuing a music career, also addressed her substance abuse, particularly with ketamine and cocaine. She said, “I wasn’t doing drugs all the time, but my relationship with them was the problem. They were my best friend, they were my support, they were the thing that I could control my emotions with, I thought. They kept me going, they soothed me when I was alone. I hated being alone. It was all of those things. My relationship with them was a problem.”

She described how drug use affected her work, saying, “Instead of working for so long or doing a film for a period of time, and having a week off, the week wouldn’t be a holiday and rest, it would be benders, caning it, which isn’t nice for the body or mind.” She recalled opening shows for brands like Top Shop and Burberry at London Fashion Week while sleep-deprived and under the influence, noting, “I remember opening Top Shop, and I was walking like a snake, almost like waving, but people thought it was on purpose, but it’s because I couldn’t walk properly.”

Delevingne also discussed mental health struggles during her teenage years, stating, “I was suicidal and hurting myself, and there was just the loudest voice in my head telling me I needed to disappear.”
