Cameron Diaz has revealed that Gwyneth Paltrow played a pivotal role in her decision to become a mother. The 47-year-old actress made the admission during an appearance on the Goop founder's series 'In Goop Health: The Sessions'.
Diaz, who married Good Charlotte's Benji Madden in 2015 and welcomed daughter Raddix in December 2019, said she would not have had children without Paltrow's persistent encouragement. Diaz recalled telling Paltrow she was not having kids, to which Paltrow insisted: 'You have to do it, you have to!'
The 'Charlie's Angels' star credited Paltrow with never giving up on her, even describing her as 'a pain in the a**' for her relentless advocacy. Paltrow responded that she believed Diaz was 'a natural mother' and 'born to do it'.
Diaz admitted that much of her earlier reluctance stemmed from fear of not finding a suitable partner. Paltrow jokingly referenced Diaz's past relationships with figures such as Justin Timberlake and Alex Rodriguez, calling them 'real humdingers'.
The actress also opened up about her retirement from acting, saying it brought her 'peace' and allowed her to take control of her life. She explained that turning 40 made her realise she wanted different things, and that she and Madden had to work hard on their relationship from the start.
