Calvin Harris has faced a backlash after sharing graphic images of his wife Vick Hope giving birth, including a picture of her placenta. The DJ, 41, announced the arrival of their son Micah on Instagram on Monday, describing his wife as a 'superhero'.
Alongside a photo of himself holding the newborn, Harris posted images of Hope in a birthing pool and a series showing the placenta being dried and ground into powder for pill capsules. Many commenters expressed shock, with one writing: 'I was NOT prepared for the placenta pic.' Another said: 'Placenta pic was not needed bro.'
However, some praised the DJ for normalising the birthing process. One wrote: 'We love Calvin for that.' The couple first revealed they were expecting in May 2025, with Hope announcing her maternity leave from BBC Radio 1 drivetime and Countryfile. Hope, who married Harris in September 2023, had previously rejected his advances in 2007, a fact they still laugh about.
