Brooklyn Beckham was reportedly mocked by the crowd during the Ryder Cup celebrity golf match in New York on Wednesday. The 26-year-old, playing for Europe alongside former basketball player Toni Kukoč, struggled throughout the 11-hole game, repeatedly hitting the ball out of bounds and getting stuck in bunkers.
Fans taunted Beckham for his lack of talent, questioning if he was a “celebrity” and claiming he was only known as “David Beckham’s son”. After the match, Beckham told the press: “I feel like they didn't like me at all - but it was amazing. They gave me a bit of rubbish but I kind of expected it.” He added: “But it is what it is, I was having fun out there.”
A source told the Daily Mail that Beckham was not in a good mood during the game, with his head down when walking past fans cheering for opponents Eli Manning and Colin Jost. The insider claimed he only received support from his caddy. However, a source close to Beckham told The Standard the comments were playful and “all in good fun”, noting the crowd was mostly American.
During his post-match interview, Beckham also publicly addressed the long-running rift with his parents Victoria and David Beckham. He made pointed comments about being “happy” and having a “supportive wife”, adding that he “never” worries about what people think of his personal life.
