Brooklyn Beckham to miss father David's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony
Brooklyn Beckham to miss David's Hollywood Walk of Fame event

David Beckham is set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today, but his eldest son Brooklyn will reportedly miss the milestone event, despite living just 20 minutes away.

Ceremony Details

The former footballer will be honored in an emotional ceremony this Friday, with his wife Victoria Beckham and close friend Tom Cruise by his side. However, Brooklyn Beckham, who now resides in Los Angeles, is expected to skip the event.

A source told Metro: "David can't wait for his star unveiling ceremony. He'll have Victoria by his side, and her speech is incredibly moving. His close friend Tom Cruise will also honour his career, which will be a huge moment for him."

The source added: "Brooklyn lives less than 20 minutes away from where the ceremony will be, but won't be attending. It wouldn't be the right time or place for a family reunion after everything that's happened between them."

Cost and Selection Process

The Hollywood Walk of Fame stars come with significant costs. The application fee is $275, and a mandatory sponsorship fee of $85,000 is required, typically paid by a movie studio, record label, or fan club. This fee covers the lifetime maintenance, creation, installation of the star, and the ceremony itself.

Each year, 20 to 30 individuals are selected by a special committee. Anyone can be nominated if they have five years of experience in their field and a history of charitable contributions.

Family Rift

Brooklyn and his parents have had a strained relationship. In January, he released a statement accusing his parents of "trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding."

He said: "I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed."

He added: "I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life. For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family."

Victoria Beckham responded to the claims, stating: "I think that we've always - we love our children so much. We've always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we've been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we've ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children."

The Mirror has contacted representatives for David and Brooklyn for comment.
