Alexa Ray Joel, the daughter of music legend Billy Joel and supermodel Christie Brinkley, has announced her engagement to boyfriend Ryan Gleason. The couple shared the news on social media, revealing that Gleason proposed during a beach break. Joel posted several photos of the romantic moment, admitting she was left speechless by the surprise proposal.
‘So I was completely taken off-guard, dumbstruck, and shell-shocked—and for once in my life, I had absolutely no words, and I couldn’t speak. I just kept staring at this ridiculously exquisite ring — and he was just hysterically laughing at me!!!’ she wrote. Gleason also shared a picture of the dazzling engagement ring, captioning it: ‘Luckiest guy in the world!!!!’
Joel recounted Gleason’s heartfelt proposal words: ‘He said to me: “Before I met you, my world was in black and white. You coloured it in between the lines.” It was the most beautiful thing anybody's ever said to me. How could I possibly say no to that?!’
Christie Brinkley, who has been open about her close relationship with her daughter, expressed her joy on Instagram. Sharing a photo of the happy couple, she wrote: ‘Under the largest moon on the year, my little Moonbeam got engaged, and I am over the moon with joy for these two… Ryan is the sweetest, kindest, hardworking man who sincerely loves and adores my precious Alexa Ray so I love him too and while we have always thought of him as family soon he really will be!
