Bride Receives Anonymous Note Criticising Wedding Gift List Days Before Ceremony

A bride-to-be has been left distraught after receiving an anonymous letter just days before her wedding, accusing her of being 'materialistic' over her wedding gift list. The note, which included biblical quotes about greed, was posted on Reddit by the bride, who asked for advice on how to handle the situation.

The anonymous sender wrote: 'ARE YOU S***ING ME? THAT'S A RATHER EXPENSIVE REGISTRY LIST DON'T YOU THINK?' The letter went on to quote scripture and criticised the bride for focusing on material possessions, stating: 'When wealth, and material things become the focus of our life's, we are elevating them to status of an idol.'

The bride, who is set to marry on Saturday, said the letter arrived with no return address and only a postmark from a post office near her hometown. She explained: 'After a very emotionally and financially taxing wedding planning era, I felt I was finally turning the corner today into excitement for our wedding on Saturday when I recieved this letter in the mail.'

Reddit users offered various suggestions, including posting the letter on social media to shame the sender or placing it on the gift table at the reception. One commenter advised: 'I wouldn't taint the wedding day with it but I would post it on Facebook. 1) Mock them for the cussing, 2) Mock them for not including the groom, 3) Tell them not to bother coming.'
