Brian Cox has once again voiced his disapproval of the method acting techniques employed by his 'Succession' co-star Jeremy Strong. In a recent interview with The Guardian, the 78-year-old actor softened his previous stance, where he had described Strong's approach as 'fucking annoying', but maintained that Strong would improve if he abandoned the practice.
Cox stated, 'He was wonderful to act with. I had no argument with Jeremy’s acting. He would be an even better actor if he just got rid of that so there would be much more inclusiveness in what he did.' He added that a cast member remaining in character at all times 'is not good for the ensemble. It creates hostility.'
Despite his criticisms, Cox admitted he never discussed the issue with Strong in the manner he would have preferred, noting that it is 'a very emotive subject for people who follow the Strasberg line.' Cox, who has previously criticised actors Johnny Depp and Steven Seagal, also expressed regret for his harsh words, saying, 'I feel like I’ve upset a few people. The problem is, I can be quite a loudmouth.'
Cox is set to appear in the upcoming animated film 'The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim', where he voices the King of Rohan in a story set 261 years before 'The Fellowship of the Ring'.
