American Influencer, 40, Dies in São Paulo Hotel After Plastic Surgery

A 40-year-old American influencer and artist has died in Brazil after her body was discovered in a luxury hotel following a plastic surgery procedure. Hilde Lynn Helphenstein, known online as Jerry Gogosian, was found unresponsive at the Rosewood São Paulo hotel on Sunday, May 31.

According to reports, Helphenstein had been in São Paulo for around three weeks recovering from a cosmetic procedure. Her plastic surgeon raised the alarm after failing to contact her by phone. He went to the five-star hotel, where staff entered her room and found her dead in bed.

Police have registered the case as a 'suspicious death' and are investigating at the 78th District Police Station in Jardins. No further details about the procedure or cause of death have been released.

Helphenstein, originally from Oakland, California, built a following of over 150,000 on Instagram by satirising the contemporary art world. She graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute, hosted the podcast Art Smack, and worked with major names including Sotheby's, Phillips, and Playboy.

In her final social media posts, she celebrated being in Brazil and shared light-hearted advice. Tributes have poured in from across the art world, where her sharp commentary earned admiration.
