Barry Williams, best known for playing Greg Brady in the classic sitcom 'The Brady Bunch', has revealed that he and co-star Maureen McCormick had an on-again, off-again romance during the show's run. Speaking on the podcast 'The Real Brady Bros', Williams compared the cast dynamics to a modern reality show like Love Island.
Williams, now 70, discussed his relationship with McCormick, who played his on-screen sister Marcia Brady. The conversation began when co-star Christopher Knight (Peter Brady) noted that during the 1973 episode 'The Subject Was Noses', the pair seemed 'a little bit less like brother and sister'. Williams quipped, 'You mean dreamy eyed?' and confirmed there was a romantic tension.
Williams explained that the relationship was intermittent: 'It was sort of like on-again, off-again with Maureen and I throughout the years. There was always a little dance being played that was broken up by hiatus.' He admitted he preferred to be on set when she filmed romantic scenes with other actors, joking, 'Just to have a presence.'
Both actors have since married other people. Williams has been married three times, most recently to Tina Mahina in 2017, and has two children. McCormick, 68, has been married to Michael Cummings since 1985 and has one daughter.
