Bradley Walsh will not host the upcoming series of Blankety Blank this year, citing a packed schedule. The 66-year-old presenter has been at the helm of the BBC revival since 2020 but is stepping aside due to other commitments, including a tour with The Prat Pack and undisclosed future projects.
Walsh's Love for the Show
Speaking to Radio Times, Walsh expressed his fondness for the gameshow: "I just don't have the time, which is sad because I've loved Blankety Blank. It's been one of my favourite shows, and it's been brilliant. Blankety Blank has been brilliant."
He added: "It really makes me laugh. It's the most fun you can have in the studio, and I just cannot work on it at the moment. I just have not got the time. I would normally go to studio in October, but I'm all taken up in October and November, so I just haven't time to do it. Maybe next year."
History of Blankety Blank
Blankety Blank originally launched in 1979, with presenters including Terry Wogan, Les Dawson, and later Paul O'Grady's alter ego Lily Savage. ITV aired a short-lived return in 2016 with David Walliams hosting a Christmas special. The BBC revival began with a 2020 festive special, which drew 5.3 million viewers, making it the broadcaster's third most-watched programme on Christmas Day. The fifth series aired in April 2026.
Walsh previously attributed the show's popularity to its family appeal: "I think it was successful because the show is so legendary and can be enjoyed by the whole family. We've had great feedback from viewers - parents and grandparents enjoyed the nostalgia of the show with the return of the theme tune, cheque book and pen and ridiculous questions and the kids enjoyed filling in the blanks alongside the celebrity panel. After a tough year, I can imagine most people just enjoyed being entertained and having a laugh."
