Boris Johnson Backs Strictly's Alex Kingston In Village

Alex Kingston, the 62-year-old actress known for her roles in ER and Doctor Who, has found an unexpected supporter in her village: former Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The pair live in the same South Oxfordshire village, where Johnson resides with his wife Carrie and their four children.

Johnson told The Mail on Sunday: 'Alex seems to be doing incredibly well. The whole village is behind her.' A source added: 'Boris is part of the community which has really got behind Alex. It's lovely to see.'

The community's support extends to weekly live screenings of the show at the village hall, as noted in a local newsletter called The Villager. The newsletter described the screenings as 'splendid' and said they 'cheer us all up'.

Kingston, who is competing with professional dancer Johannes Radebe, recently admitted her body is struggling with the demands of the competition. Speaking to host Claudia Winkleman, she said: 'My 62-year-old self is saying "What are you putting me through?" But my spirit and my soul is going (fingers in ears) I don't want to know, I want to keep dancing.'

Fans praised her honesty, with one viewer on X noting she had 'more than proved herself'. Another said that although her performance 'wasn't the best', everyone should be 'incredibly proud' of her efforts.
