Ubisoft appears to have quietly removed one of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced's secret best features in its recent title update. Black Flag Resynced has gone from strength to strength, with it recently surpassing three million sales in its first week alone.
One of the features that Ubisoft added for the remake was the ability to pull Edward Kenway's assassin hood up and down at the press of the button. It didn't help much in the way of stealth, but it does add an infinite amount of aura to scenes when you're trying to stay out of sight.
Feature removed without mention
An unreal combination of this button press was when launching from a synchronisation point, pulling up the hood mid-fall. Shortly after release, plenty of user generated clips started floating around social media with fans showing off the feature.
However, the recent title update for Black Flag Resynced appears to have removed this hidden mechanic from the game entirely. There's no mention of the feature being removed specifically in the patch notes, leading some to believe that it might be a bug.
Fan reactions
“I booted Assassin's Creed Black Flag resynced after the recent update, and I was sad to find that, the ability to hood toggle while sliding, and while in a mid air leap of faith was removed, like, why? It was so cool, why did they patch that out?,” reads one frustrated Reddit comment. Other gamers also corroborate that the feature has been removed. “That's such a random thing to patch out, it wasn't even breaking anything, just a fun little detail. I wouldn't be surprised if it's an unintended side effect of whatever else they touched in the update rather than something intentional,” says one gamer.
Another user says that they're 'heartbroken', while one more gamer says: “Yeah, I've got the same issue.” I've reached out to Ubisoft for clarification as to whether the removal of this feature is intentional or a bug.
