Billie Piper has surprised fans by unveiling a drastic hair transformation, swapping her signature blonde locks for a dark brunette shade. The 39-year-old actress and singer shared her new look on Instagram, captioning it an 'emo glow up'.
Piper, who first rose to fame as a blonde teen pop star in the late 1990s, has maintained the colour throughout her career, including roles in Doctor Who and Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Her recent change marks the first time she has been seen with dark hair.
Fans took to social media to react, with one writing: 'Billie Piper has black hair omg I've never seen her like this before.' Another commented: 'Love how Billie Piper has dyed her hair so dark nobody recognises her now.'
The new look is believed to be linked to her role in the upcoming second series of I Hate Suzie, due to air this Christmas on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV. Sharing a scene still on Instagram, she wrote: 'I HATE SUZIE TOO... Coming this Christmas. There's dancing.'
Piper also hinted that the transformation might be for a new acting project, though she has not confirmed if it is for the Netflix adaptation of Terri White's memoir Coming Undone, in which she is set to star.
