Wildlife presenter and comedian Bill Oddie, best known for his role in the comic trio The Goodies and his BBC nature programmes, has died at the age of 85, his agent confirmed.

Oddie died on Saturday, according to a statement from his friend and agent David Foster. Foster described him as "the country's best-loved birder" and a multi-talented figure – wildlife presenter, broadcaster, comedian, writer, songwriter, musician and conservationist.
Career highlights
Oddie rose to fame in the 1970s with The Goodies, alongside Tim Brooke-Taylor and Graeme Garden. He later presented a string of BBC wildlife shows, including Birding With Bill Oddie, Bill Oddie Goes Wild, Springwatch and Autumnwatch.
Foster noted that Oddie valued conservation over fame, encouraging respect for the environment through his work. "He taught us the wonder of it. He protested, lobbied and campaigned for it," Foster said.

Oddie is survived by his wife Laura and daughters Bonnie, Kate and Rosie, who have requested privacy at this time.
