Beyonce has been praised for her polite treatment of staff at the Met Gala on Monday, in contrast to Blake Lively who faced criticism after footage emerged of her appearing to snap at assistants. The singer attended the event alongside her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, marking her first appearance at the gala in ten years.
In a moment captured on camera, Beyonce was seen smiling at helpers as they adjusted the cape of her Olivier Rousteing dress. According to lip reader Jackie G, Beyonce asked a helper, 'Does it look alright? Thank you,' before requesting assistance for Blue Ivy's dress so the two could 'get closer together' for photographs. She thanked the helper again and told her daughter, 'You look beautiful baby!'
Fans praised Beyonce's demeanour online, with one commenting, 'Oh this is good. But she's so polite and sweet with her staff.' Another fan noted, 'A doting mama is such a flex.' Beyonce also told reporters she was 'so proud' of Blue Ivy.
In contrast, Blake Lively received a different reaction after a video showed her on the red carpet appearing to gesture sharply at staff trying to unfurl her dress train. One fan remarked, 'No one has ever looked more like they were about to CC HR on the red carpet.' However, some defended Lively, suggesting she was simply 'delegating' rather than being rude. Once her train was fixed, she was seen smiling at staff and thanking them.
Lively's appearance at the Met Gala came hours after she and her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni settled their lawsuit. In a joint statement, they said, 'Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors... is a goal that we stand behind.' The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
