Beckham's Wimbledon Appearance
David Beckham made a notable appearance at Wimbledon on Monday, sitting in the front row of the Royal Box to watch Jannik Sinner defend his title against Miomir Kecmanovic. The 50-year-old former Manchester United and Real Madrid star, now co-owner of Inter Miami, was accompanied by his mother, Sandra Beckham.
Fellow Guest's Impression
Fashion influencer and journalist Joanne Hegarty, who sat near Beckham in the Royal Box in 2025, described him as 'chatty and friendly' during an interview with HELLO! magazine. She noted that he brought his mother as his plus one and was very approachable. Hegarty added, 'Everyone there was looked after very well by the committee. And for me, it was exciting to watch the opening tournament game with celebrities like David Beckham.'
Royal Box Etiquette
The Royal Box has strict dress code regulations: men must wear a suit or jacket and tie, while women are advised against wearing hats that could obstruct views. Hegarty revealed she wore a crisp white outfit inspired by the Beckhams, including a skirt by Toteme and a top from Victoria Beckham's label, which she mentioned to David.
Beckham's Interactions
This year, Beckham wore a brown suit and posed for numerous photos with attendees, including former Great British Bake Off star Dame Mary Berry. He also took a group photo with Berry and Deborah Jevans, chair of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
World Cup Conflict
Days earlier, Beckham attended England's World Cup win over Panama in New Jersey. However, Wimbledon authorities have stated they will 'discourage' VIPs in the Royal Box from watching World Cup matches on their phones. Sally Bolton OBE, Chief Executive of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, said: 'We're not going to be showing the football on any of the big screens around the grounds, but clearly, if people have got their phones, then we're not going to prevent people from watching the football.' When asked about Royal Box VIPs, she added: 'We do discourage people in the royal box from using their phones anyway.'
