Brooklyn Beckham has broken his silence on the long-rumoured rift with his parents, David and Victoria, confirming in a lengthy Instagram statement that he is estranged from them and does not wish to reconcile. The 26-year-old, who married actress Nicola Peltz in 2022, accused his parents of trying to control him and disrespecting his wife.
In his statement, Brooklyn claimed that his family had consistently disrespected Peltz, describing efforts to 'ruin' their relationship. He said that the night before his wedding, family members told him that Peltz was 'not blood' and 'not family'. He also alleged pressure to sign away rights to the Beckham name, seemingly to prevent Peltz from staking a claim.
The feud came to a head after Brooklyn's brother Cruz posted on Instagram days before Christmas, rebutting reports that David and Victoria had unfollowed Brooklyn. Brooklyn said his brothers were 'sent to attack' him on social media and blocked him last summer. He framed the rift as part of a pattern of brand management by his parents, forcing him to speak out after years of silence.
Brooklyn also addressed his non-attendance at David's 50th birthday party last year, saying he and Peltz travelled to London but were 'rejected' by his father, who allegedly only offered to meet at the party or alone without Peltz. When his family later visited Los Angeles, they refused to see him at all.
David and Victoria have not yet responded to the allegations. David was photographed at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday, reportedly 'struggling to put a brave face on'. The Beckham family feud has been a subject of tabloid speculation for years, with tensions reportedly stemming from Brooklyn's relationship with Peltz.
