David Beckham Gets Emotional Honoring Kids Amid Brooklyn Feud
Beckham Emotional Over Kids Amid Brooklyn Rift

David Beckham became emotional during his Hollywood Walk of Fame acceptance speech, dedicating the honor to all his children despite the notable absence of his eldest son, Brooklyn, amid their ongoing public feud.

Emotional Tribute to Family

The 51-year-old former footballer received his star on the iconic Los Angeles tourist attraction during a glamorous ceremony on Friday afternoon. He was supported by his wife Victoria, whom he married in 1999, and their children Harper, 14, Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21. However, Brooklyn, who has become publicly estranged after marrying heiress Nicola Peltz, was not present.

Despite the rift, David spoke lovingly of all his children during his speech. He said: "My parents and my sisters who have always supported my dreams. Victoria, my amazing wife of almost 30 years, without whom none of this would be possible or enjoyable.

"My beautiful children are the reason I get out of bed in the morning. Kids, I'm going to get emotional now, kids, I hope you bring my grandchildren here one day and tell them about a boy who dreamed big. To make you all proud is my greatest achievement, I am so grateful for you all, I love you."

Private Matter

Hours before the ceremony, David declined to discuss his fractured relationship with Brooklyn. He told Variety: "To be honest, I’m sorry to stop you there, but that’s a private matter. That’s the one thing that I don’t want to talk about."

Brooklyn lives just 20 minutes from the ceremony location, but insiders claimed it "just wouldn't be the time or place" for a reunion after their public fallout. A source told Metro: "David can’t wait for his star unveiling ceremony. He’ll have Victoria by his side, and her speech is incredibly moving. His close friend Tom Cruise will also honour his career, which will be a huge moment for him.

"Brooklyn lives less than 20 minutes away from where the ceremony will be, but won’t be attending. It wouldn’t be the right time or place for a family reunion after everything that’s happened between them."

Brooklyn's Statement

Brooklyn and his parents spectacularly fell out. In January, he released a statement accusing his parents of "trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding." He said: "I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.

"I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life. For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into." He added: "Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they'll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own façade. But I believe the truth always comes out."

Victoria hit back at Brooklyn's claims, saying: "I think that we've always - we love our children so much. We've always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we've been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we've ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that's all I really want to say about it."
