Shirtless Snaps and Blonde Buzzcuts
On Wednesday, the 23-year-old model and former footballer, Romeo, shared a shirtless photo on his Instagram grid. The image showed him displaying his muscular physique and an array of torso tattoos. He wore black shorts with Hugo Boss boxers visible, draping a white towel around his neck. Fans were quick to note his striking resemblance to his father, David Beckham, in his youth.
In a subsequent post, Romeo revealed he had recently dyed his buzzcut hair back to blonde, after sporting a darker shade. He also gave followers a glimpse into his downtime, posting a snap to his Story from what appeared to be a hotel room, where he was dressed in a comfortable tracksuit.
Cruz's Poignant Public Gesture
Romeo's social media activity comes hot on the heels of a significant move from his brother, Cruz Beckham. The 20-year-old singer, the youngest son of David and Victoria, shared a throwback photo on his Instagram this week, marking what seems to be a public olive branch extended to Brooklyn.
The nostalgic snapshot, taken during a sun-soaked family holiday in 2021, showed Cruz posing shirtless alongside his father David, 50, and brothers Brooklyn, 26, and Romeo. Cruz poignantly captioned the image, "Love you guys." This is believed to be the first time Cruz has shared a picture featuring Brooklyn on his social media since the family feud intensified earlier this year.
A Deepening Family Rift and Grandmothers' Heartache
Despite the public gesture, the underlying tensions remain. Brooklyn and Cruz still do not follow each other on Instagram. Reports from earlier in the year indicated that both Cruz and Romeo had unfollowed—and potentially blocked—their eldest brother Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz, on the platform. This action is thought to have been a reaction to a birthday tribute Brooklyn posted for his sister Harper, which featured a family photo excluding Cruz and Romeo, and which Nicola reposted.
The ongoing estrangement is reportedly causing particular distress for the family matriarchs. Victoria Beckham's mother, Jackie, recently shared a video on Instagram showing personalised Christmas stockings hung by the fireplace, including one for Brooklyn. Family friends say both Jackie and David's mother, Sandra, are "very sad" about the rift, having been exceptionally close to Brooklyn since he was a baby.
"David and Victoria are making peace with not having Brooklyn around, they are sad but they are having to accept it," a source familiar with the situation explained. "But it's the grandmothers. They adore Brooklyn... They're not getting any younger and the cold truth of it all is that nobody knows when they will see Brooklyn next."
