Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie may be nervous about their future despite a public show of support from Prince William, according to a royal expert. The sisters attended the wedding of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling recently, where William gave Beatrice a warm cheek-kiss, signaling family unity. However, the shadow of their father Prince Andrew's controversies looms large.
Parents Relieved by Public Support
Former royal editor Duncan Larcombe told the Mirror that Andrew and Sarah Ferguson should be relieved to see their daughters are not being shunned. 'You'd like to think that Andrew was big enough and clever enough to welcome the fact his daughters aren't being tarred with the same brush,' he said. 'The same applies to Sarah Ferguson. You'd hope it would come as a relief to them that their daughters are able to interact with their family in public.'
Ongoing Investigations and Public Perception
Andrew is still under police investigation over his dealings with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and a recent National Audit Office report revealed undisclosed rental income from sub-letting properties on the Royal Lodge estate. Larcombe noted that the Epstein scandal is not over, and Beatrice and Eugenie are likely very nervous about what the future holds. He added that the public often links the sisters to their parents' actions, even though they are innocent victims.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond previously said the sisters were 'brave to show up' at the wedding, acknowledging the difficulty of their situation. As the monarchy continues to streamline, the ultimate risk for the sisters remains uncertain.
