Bear Grylls collects Waitrose shopping from Welsh beach

Bear Grylls was spotted collecting his Waitrose shopping in a custom-built boat with wheels on the mainland opposite his private Welsh island.

Footage shows the British adventurer and TV presenter collecting a Waitrose delivery from the shore near Abersoch Harbour Beach on the Llŷn Peninsula.

Grylls, 52, was using an amphibious vehicle capable of travelling on both land and water to retrieve his shopping. He was wearing a life jacket and shorts.

The footage, sent to Sell Us Your Story, was filmed at around 4pm on July 19. Grylls was also seen stopping to have a chat with a local as they walked past.

He bought Ynys Tudwal Fawr (St Tudwal's Island West), off the coast of the Llŷn Peninsula, in 2001 for around £95,000.

Island home

He reportedly splits his time between the island, which is around 700 metres long and 200 metres wide, and London with his wife, Shara, and their sons, Jesse, Marmaduke and Huckleberry.

The surrounding waters are home to grey seals, bottlenose dolphins, otters and porpoises.
