BBC Star Voices Argos Toy Trevor in Coronation Street Ads

Coronation Street fans have been left stunned after discovering the real-life identities of the voices behind Argos toys Connie and Trevor, who appear in the retailer's sponsorship adverts for the long-running ITV soap. The unlikely duo—a doll named Connie and a dinosaur named Trevor—have been featured in the adverts since 2023, watching the show together just before each episode airs.

Charlie Cooper: The Voice of Trevor

Actor and writer Charlie Cooper, best known for playing Lee "Kurtan" Mucklowe in the BBC Three series This Country, provides the voice for Trevor. Cooper co-created and co-wrote the show alongside his elder sister, Daisy May Cooper. He won a BAFTA TV Award for Best Scripted Comedy for the programme. Cooper has also appeared in Stath Let Flats, Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, Paramount+ series Stags, and fronted his own documentary Charlie Cooper's Myth Country in 2024.

Ruth Bratt: The Voice of Connie

Connie is voiced by Ruth Bratt, a comedian and performer who featured in the BAFTA-winning BBC2 series People Just Do Nothing. She has also starred in Ricky Gervais' show Derek and Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive.

Fan Reactions

Fans were flummoxed after discovering the voices behind Trevor and Connie. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person said: "Did anyone else know Kurtan from This Country voices Trevor." Another added: "I thought it was Kurtan! ! ! Thank you for confirming." A third chimed in: "No way." Someone else declared: "Heartbreaking when Alexa tells him that Weatherfield isn't a real place. I love his voice."

Charlie Cooper's Surprising Past with Argos

Speaking previously about providing Trevor's voice, Charlie expressed his amazement, particularly given he once worked for the retailer years before achieving fame as an actor and writer. "It is a bit baffling that I'm in the adverts," Charlie confessed to Metro. Discussing his departure from Argos during his time there, he revealed: "I accidentally gave away a computer for free. It's not as bad as it sounds."

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
