BBC Saturday Kitchen is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its major revamp this weekend, with the show teasing a special episode to mark the milestone. The programme originally launched on BBC Two in 2002 but underwent a significant transformation in 2006 when it moved to BBC One with James Martin as host, replacing Antony Worrall Thompson.
After a decade at the helm, James Martin departed and was succeeded by Matt Tebbutt in 2016, who has presented the show ever since. To commemorate the anniversary, the show's Instagram account shared a post hinting at something exciting for Saturday, featuring a collage of past guests including Rick Stein, Andi Oliver, Helen McGinn, and actress Liz Carr.
Fans quickly flooded the comments with congratulations, with one writing: "Woo hoo, happy 20 years to the best team in good TV. Congratulations." Another added: "20 years, wow. And still the best show on TV, bar none. My Saturday mornings just would not be the same without my dose of Saturday Kitchen."
Recently, The One Show's Alex Jones stood in for Matt Tebbutt and was well received by viewers. Upon his return, Tebbutt joked: "Before we go on with our usual nonsense, we should say how well Alex did last week. Well done, Alex Jones. Bit too good for my liking."
